Step 1: Attend a Career Orientation Program (COP)

I’m sure every one of us knows at least one or two Financial Advisors. You might want to tell them that you are interested in becoming a Financial Advisor too, go ahead and asked them if when is the next schedule of their company’s COP. But if you’re lucky enough, a Financial Advisor might invite you to a COP even before you asked them about it. Basically, COP is all about the company introducing itself to you and discussing what financial advising is all about.

Step 2: Interview

Once you’re done with the COP and you are really motivated to start this new career, then interview will follow. The Unit Manager and/or the Branch Manager will be the one to conduct the interview. Basically it is just a getting-to-know phase. And don’t forget to submit your CV and supporting documents.

Step 3: Training

Undergo a basic training just for a few days. It is necessary to attend the training sessions because it consists of the concepts, ethical standards and product discussions. This is also good for you to familiarize yourself in the industry and prepare for the licensing examination in the Insurance Commission.

Step 4: Examination

After the extensive training, you are now getting closer in becoming a Financial Advisor. Take the licensing exam in the Insurance Commission, UN Avenue Manila. You must pass the exam in order for you to be coded as a Financial Advisor. However, if you fail the exam, you would need to re-take it again until you pass in order for you to become a Financial Advisor.

Step 5: Submission of Requirements

If you successfully pass the exam, then all you have to do is to submit all the required documents to be coded as a Financial Advisor.

Step 6: Make Your Calls

After succeeding the steps and conquering the examination, Congratulations! You are now a licensed Financial Advisor.
